As a designer, I am constantly observing my surroundings, and this is the most interesting city I have ever visited.
The city of Tokyo has some very strong contrasts. One moment you are surrounded by tall buildings, throngs of people, and the “wonderful” smell of city life, and the next minute you are surrounded by serene forests, the smell of flowers, and peaceful shrines.
These are some pictures of our trip. They include views of skyscrapers in the West Shinjuku ward, Nightlife in East Shinjuku ward, a shrine in Yoyogi park, the Great Budha of Kamakura and the bridge leading to the Emperor’s Palace. Please enjoy them. I will be posting more as the trip continues.

The nice weather has arrived in Missouri. Give it time, the procrastination will begin. The best way to stifle this problem is to allocate time to slack off and time to work. Since I have a full time job, and I freelance, I have set myself a very strict schedule.
I have set times to check email, sit and design, make client phone calls, and complete administrative stuff (billing clients and paying my personal bills). Then there is the time for my wife and me. Which is why I need to pry myself away from my computer, and go enjoy the weather with her on the back patio.
Hasta luego.

The @font-face tag has opened a new window in web design for me. It reminds me of the days in design school, when I was introduced to computers as a design tool. I had these grand concepts on paper, but when put in Quark Xpress they seem to fall flat. This was due to the lack of font choices on the design school computers. The @font-face tag is like me obtaining my first Macintosh computer. It came with numerous fonts, and others were readily accessible with just a few clicks. It opened up my designs to all sorts of possibilities.
Along with that tag I have found support with a type foundry that has great deals on fonts for the web. There name is Exljbris Font Foundry and can be found at www.exljbris.nl. Make sure to visit them, they have some wonderful fonts, and some are even available for free.

I have been working to get the design portion of my new site up and running for about a week now. It has been a real learning process, but at the same time rewarding. I have learned a lot about WordPress, PHP, and content management systems. The next step is to find some code tweaks to make the site look even better.
