ArtistPress

Identity Design and Website

In the process of advancing my development skills and knowledge of WordPress, I challenged myself to create my first WordPress plugin. As I worked through the Plugin Handbook, I found the process very rewarding. I took my new-found knowledge and started developing ArtistPress into a commercially viable product. To market ArtistPress, I required a modern brand and website.

Contemporary Logo Design

In order to market ArtistPress, I required a logo and brand that communicated to my target market of musicians and practicing fine artists. The logo highlights two different art forms with a subtle flowing curve echoing the likeness of a classic Gibson guitar or artist’s paint brush. In order to communicate hip and trendy, yet professional, I combined the graphic element with the font Oxygen, a contemporary twist on the classic sans-serif font.

Ecommerce Website Design

I used the ArtistPress brand colors and contemporary typography to design a simple online store to market the plugin. The site was initially designed to provide users a way to download the free version of the plugin. Future versions of the website included the addition of WooCommerce in order to sell and license the Pro and Community versions of ArtistPress.
