Serious Injury Law Group

I engineered a custom WordPress solution for Serious Injury Law Group to help site visitors find critical legal help. As the lead frontend developer on the project, I overcame structural bottlenecks and inconsistent mobile scaling by architecting a highly flexible theme from the ground up using PHP, SCSS, CSS, and mondern JavaScript.

Web Address: https://www.seriouslawyers.com/
My Role: Lead Web Developer
Designer: John Brobst

Responsive Architecture: Standardized CSS/SCSS and JavaScript to eradicate inconsistent mobile experiences across all viewports.

Scalable Custom Content: Registered custom post types for Attorneys, Case Results, and Locations to eliminate clunky workarounds.

Dynamic Layout Engine: Developed a custom WordPress theme breaking free from rigid templates, giving content editors absolute page layout flexibility while maintaining practice area hierarchies.

Atomic Design System: To ensure flexibility and future extendability the site is built with a series of traits, elements, components, and modules.

Encapsulated Core Logic: Utilized PHP Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) patterns to abstract theme setup, custom post types (Attorneys, Case Results, Locations), and asset registration into dedicated, modular classes.

Clean Architecture: Eliminated functions.php bloat by implementing namespaces and a central theme initialization class, utilizing a combination of Singleton, Factory and Decorator patterns, ensuring high maintainability and scalable backend code.

Performance-Driven CSS and JavaScript Structure

Modular Styling Architecture: Broke the CSS down into highly atomic CSS and JS files aligned with specific components, layouts, and page templates.

Conditional Resource Loading: Leveraged WordPress asset registration hooks to selectively enqueue styling stylesheets and JavaScript, ensuring the browser only downloads the assets needed to render the current page.

Web Vitals Optimization: Significantly reduced critical rendering path blockage and unused CSS metrics, maximizing page speed for high-intent mobile visitors.
